Abstract
This study was performed to know the concentration of Na+, K+ and Creatinine in the urine of rural residents in Korea. The subject people were 34 residents living in Hanlim-myon, Kimhae-gun, Kyungnam Province, 24-hour urine was collected from
them,
and
it was transferred and analyzed in the laboratory.
@ES Followings are summarized results.
@EN 1. Average volume of urine was 1,800ml/day in subjected group.
2. Average concentration of Na+ and K+ were 255 and 45mEq/day in the urine of subjected group. These values were lower than those of the 1960's study, however they were higher than those of European's.
3. K+/Na+ ratio in the urine of rural residents was significantly lower than that of urban ones.
From the above results, it was confirmed that salt amount ingested and/or excreted by rural residents in Korea is put on the decreasing trend.
